Admiral Harry B. Harris, Jr., U.S. Navy (Ret.) – former U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command – was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021.

Harris served as U.S Ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 2018 to 2021, working closely with leading technology companies to promote innovation and collaboration – particularly in areas such as 5G, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

During his 40-year U.S. military career, from 1978 to 2018, Admiral Harris commanded the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 6th Fleet, NATO Striking and Support Forces, and the Joint Task Force in Guantanamo. As Commander of USPACOM, he oversaw 400,000 military and civilian personnel – across more than 50 percent of the globe.

He also participated in numerous combat operations, including Desert Shield/Storm, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Odyssey Dawn. He has flown more than 4,400 hours, including 400-plus combat hours.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and master’s degrees in public administration from Harvard University and in national security studies from Georgetown University. He also completed the Seminar 21 fellowship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
