Marissa Virrueta is an experienced educator specializing in special education, currently serving as a Special Education Teacher at La Causa, Inc. since August 2020 and actively participating in the School Improvement Plan Team. Prior to this role, Marissa worked as an Impact Manager for City Year, focusing on partnership development and coaching AmeriCorps members, and served as a teacher in Milwaukee Public Schools, achieving significant student growth in Math and Reading. Marissa's career began with Teach For America, where intensive training in culturally relevant pedagogy was received. Additionally, Marissa has held leadership positions with City Year and gained experience in communications through an internship at the Public Allies National Office. Marissa holds a Master’s degree in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
