Hermelinda Aguiar has a diverse work experience in the health education field. Hermelinda started as a Student at San Francisco State University from 2013 to 2015. Later, they had an Internship at the University of California San Francisco in 2015. Hermelinda then worked at the Street Level Health Project from 2012 to 2018 as a Volunteer and later as a Health Navigator. Currently, they are at La Clínica de La Raza, starting as a Health Educator II in 2018 and currently serving as the Lead Health Educator since 2022.
Hermelinda Aguiar completed an Associate of Science degree in Health Services/Allied Health Sciences at Merritt College in 2012, followed by a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from San Francisco State University in 2015. Prior to that, they studied Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences at Laney College from 2009 to 2013. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Mental Health First Aid Instruction from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in 2022 and Medical Terminology from the College of Alameda.

Since its beginnings as a single storefront operation in Oakland in 1971, La Clínica has grown into a sophisticated provider of primary health care and other services, with 32 sites spread across Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties. La Clínica delivers health care services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner to most effectively address the needs of the diverse populations it serves. With over forty-four years of experience serving the community, La Clínica is one of the largest community health centers in the state of California.
