Sara Herrera de la Mata

Sara Herrera de la Mata is a graduate student in the Division of Biological Sciences at UC San Diego, pursuing a PhD in Immunology. With extensive experience as a research technician at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, Sara serves as the lead bench scientist on multiple projects involving complex genomic assays, sample processing, and analysis of next-generation sequencing data. Prior roles include positions as a laboratory research assistant at Dr. Walker's Laboratory, focusing on breast cancer research, and a research assistant at Dr. Cristina Sánchez-Camacho's laboratory, where studies on metaloproteases' role in nervous system vascularization were conducted. Additionally, experience as a pharmacist involved advising patients on prescription medications and contributing to health campaigns aimed at disease prevention. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and Biotechnology from Universidad Europea, and a postgraduate diploma in Bioengineering Management from the University of California, Riverside.
