Clare Kermond

Clare Kermond is a Research Fellow at La Trobe University since February 2025, recognized for winning the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) 2025 Student and Trainee Travel Award and the Lee Mills Teacher Education Award from the Australian Association of Special Education. Concurrently, Clare is a PhD candidate at La Trobe University, with a focus on Autism and education. Prior experience includes serving as Manager of media and communications at Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand from January 2020 to July 2025, as well as holding the position of Senior media advisor at Our Watch from April 2018 to 2020. Clare's extensive background in journalism includes roles as a Senior writer and editor at The Age from November 1997 to January 2018 and as Editor of The Age Melbourne magazine during 2014-2015. Clare Kermond holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of New England and a Journalism degree from RMIT University.
