Dr. Heiko Dumlich has a diverse work experience in various roles related to innovation, patents, and intellectual property. Dr. Heiko has most recently served as the Head of Innovation and IP at Lab14 since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH as Technical Management (Patents) from November 2021 to May 2023. From April 2017 to October 2021, they served as a Patent Attorney at Eisenführ Speiser.
Before their time at Eisenführ Speiser, Dr. Dumlich worked as a Patentassessor at their own company, Heiko Dumlich, from November 2016 to March 2017. Dr. Heiko also gained experience as a trainee patent attorney at the German Patent and Trademark Office and Federal Patent Court from February 2016 to September 2016.

Dr. Heiko Dumlich has a diverse education history. Dr. Heiko obtained their Abitur from Freiherr vom Stein Gymnasium in an unspecified year. Dr. Heiko then pursued their undergraduate studies in physics at Freie Universität Berlin, earning a Physik Diplom degree in 2010. In 2009, they briefly studied Physics, Nanotechnology, and Carbon Nanotubes at the University of Cambridge, and also attended ETH Zürich and the University of Zurich in 2008 to further their studies in physics and economics. Dr. Dumlich completed their doctoral degree, Dr. rer. nat., in Physics at Freie Universität Berlin in 2013. Dr. Heiko later enrolled at FernUniversität in Hagen from 2013 to 2015 to study Recht für Patentanwältinnen und Patentanwälte. Additionally, Dr. Dumlich attended the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies - CEIPI in 2014 and 2015 to focus on European Patent Law. Recently, they pursued distance learning at the University of Strasbourg, where they obtained a University Diploma in IP Business Administration from 2019 to 2021.
