Andrei Ursu, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist RNA Chemical Biology at LabCentral

Andrei Ursu, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience spanning various scientific research roles. Andrei is currently working as a Senior Scientist in RNA Chemical Biology at LabCentral since July 2023. Prior to this, from July 2022 to July 2023, they held the position of Lab Head in RNA Chemical Biology at Bayer. Andrei also served as a Lab Head in RNA Biophysics at Bayer from June 2021 to June 2022.

Before joining Bayer, Dr. Ursu worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology from November 2020 to May 2021. Their primary area of focus was small molecule therapeutics targeting RNA in neurodegenerative disorders. Andrei then continued their postdoctoral fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute - Florida campus from May 2016 to July 2020, where they researched the development of small molecule therapeutics targeting RNA in neurodegenerative disorders under the supervision of Prof. Dr.

Dr. Ursu's academic journey began as a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, where they completed their thesis on the development of small molecule modulators of stem cell reprogramming from September 2011 to October 2015. Andrei was enrolled in the International Max Planck Research School in Chemical and Molecular Biology (IMPRS-CMB) graduate program and the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the Technical University Dortmund.

Prior to their doctoral studies, Dr. Ursu obtained their MSc degree from the Technical University Munich, where they conducted research on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel anion receptors. From October 2008 to November 2011, they pursued their MSc degree and also worked as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Franz P.

Dr. Ursu's academic journey began as a BSc student at the University of Bucharest, where they completed their undergraduate studies from September 2004 to July 2008.

Andrei Ursu, Ph.D. has an extensive education history in the field of chemistry. Andrei started their academic journey in 2004 at the University of Bucharest, where they earned their Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in 2008. Following this, they pursued further studies at the Technical University of Munich from 2008 to 2010, culminating in the attainment of a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry. Andrei's passion for chemistry led him to TU Dortmund University, where they dedicated four years from 2011 to 2015 to complete their Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D. degree in Chemistry.
