Pedro Duarte is a research assistant at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas, where research focuses on the diffusion of information in social media through techniques in Complex Network, Machine Learning, and Data Science as part of a large European Union project. Previously, Pedro served as an undergraduate research fellow and intern at IPFN - Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear, characterizing noise in spectrometer readings to develop portable Raman spectrometers for illegal substance detection. Earlier work includes an internship at Instituto Superior Técnico, contributing to the numerical solution of integral equations leading to a peer-reviewed publication, and an internship at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas, assisting in searching for the supersymmetric partner of the top quark using Neural Networks and Data Science techniques. Pedro holds a Master's degree in Physics from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and a high school diploma in Science and Technology from Escola Secundária Nuno Álvares.
