Gilles Froment has extensive experience in the dairy industry and agricultural policy, currently serving as President of the International Dairy Federation since May 2004, along with prominent roles such as Canadian Active Representative on the Standing Committee on Dairy Policies & Economics and IDF Treasurer since October 2022. Froment also holds the position of Senior Vice President for Government and Industry Relations at Lactalis Canada since May 2016. Previously, Froment was Chief Operating Officer and held various director-level roles at the Canadian Dairy Commission from 1997 to 2016, contributing to policy and corporate affairs. Froment’s early career includes positions as a Market Analyst at the Canadian Turkey Marketing Agency and an Economist at Agriculture Canada. Academically, Froment earned a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Université de Montréal, complemented by a DES from Séminaire de Joliette.
