David Thomas, MD, MPH has extensive experience in the field of Infectious Disease and Healthcare Epidemiology. David has held various roles in prestigious institutions such as H. LEE MOFFITT CANCER CENTER AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, INC, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, LifePoint Health®, University of Pikeville- Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Lincoln Memorial University, and St. George's University. Additionally, they have worked as a Locum Tenens Physician at Lawton Indian Hospital and as an Independent Consultant Physician at Interim Physicians. David holds a Clinical Fellow position at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and The University of Connecticut Health Center.

David Thomas, MD, MPH has an extensive education history. David obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Tennessee Technological University in 2006. In 2007, they received a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Epidemiology, Biomedical & General Public Health from St. George's University. Following this, in 2012, they completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at New York Medical College.

Dr. Thomas earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from St. George's University in 2012. David pursued further specialization and completed a Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of Connecticut from 2015 to 2017. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2018, they pursued a Fellowship in Hematology & Medical Oncology at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.

In 2021, Dr. Thomas obtained Subspecialty Certification in Infectious Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Prior to this, they obtained Internal Medicine certification from the same institution in 2019.

Currently, Dr. David Thomas is pursuing an Advanced Fellowship in Transplant & Oncology Infectious Disease at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is a 295-bed acute care facility, providing healthcare services for an 11-county service area in south central Kentucky. A modern, state-of-the-art facility, the hospital offers cardiac care and stroke care and a neurosurgery program that is rated among the best in the nation.
