Sam Gerla

LRH School Principal at Lakeland Behavioral Health System

Dr. Sam Gerla has served as Principal of Lakeland Regional School since May, 2007. Prior to that, he invested 34 years in public education in Washington State – 30 as an administrator. Dr. Gerla held positions as teacher, coach, activities coordinator, athletic director, assistant principal, principal and district administrator, including 23 years as a school superintendent. Having earned his doctorate in educational administration from Washington State University, Dr. Gerla served as adjunct faculty for WSU from 1988-2006, primarily helping prepare and mentor aspiring building- and district-level administrators. Sam and his wife Kathy have three adult children and three precious granddaughters. Sam is also a sports official (referee), having retired from basketball after 30 years but continuing as an active football arbiter.
