Alice Walker

Program Director & Professor, Human Services at Lakeland Community College

Alice Walker has an extensive background in the field of education and counseling. Alice started their career as a Law Clerk in 1985 and has since held various roles such as Social Worker, Family Services, and Graduate Assistant in different organizations. Alice'sexperience includes working as an Out-Patient Adolescent & Family Counselor, Suicide Prevention Trainer, and Counselor & Program Coordinator. Alice has also served as a Professor and Program Director in Human Services at Lakeland Community College. Alice'scommitment to student success, adaptability in curriculum planning, and active learning strategies have been recognized with awards for Excellence in Teaching. Walker has a strong background in counseling, program development, and intervention for juveniles, particularly in the areas of chemical dependency and mental health.

Alice Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Philosophy from Cleveland State University in 1986. Alice then went on to complete a Master of Education in Community Agency Counseling at the same university in 1994. Later, they obtained certifications as a Professional Counselor in 1999 and as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Clinical Supervisor in 1992. Finally, they achieved a PhD in Designing Sustainable Systems in Higher Education from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University from 2008 to 2015.
