Kourosh Baghelai has extensive work experience in the medical field, particularly in cardiovascular surgery. Kourosh started their career in 2004 as the Cardiovascular Surgery Medical Director at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. In the same year, they also worked as a Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon at Spectrum Health.
Kourosh Baghelai attended the University of Maryland where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 1985 to 1989. Kourosh then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 1990 to 1994. Following this, they completed a General Surgery Residency Program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine from 1994 to 2001. Kourosh then specialized in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, they briefly studied General Thoracic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.
