Sebastien Cuendet

Sebastien Cuendet serves as the Head of Engineering at Lakera since April 2025, where efforts focus on building a robust engineering team and enhancing AI safety and reliability. In addition to this role, Cuendet has been mentoring at Plato since May 2021 and previously held multiple engineering leadership positions at dbt Labs from January 2022 to March 2025, including Senior Director of Software Engineering and Director of Engineering. Prior experience includes a tenure at AppFolio, Inc. from February 2016 to January 2022, where Cuendet advanced to Senior Director Of Engineering, and as Lead Engineer at Everbloom in 2014, establishing the architecture for its accounting software. Cuendet's academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science from EPFL, earned between 2009 and 2013, and a Masters Thesis in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006.
