Luis Ortega Charleston

Luis Ortega Charleston has extensive experience in research and development within the biofuels and distilled spirits sectors. Currently serving as the Research and Development Process Manager at Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits since August 2007, Luis specializes in yeast propagation and process simulation, recently taking on the responsibility for overseeing strain production across various Lallemand facilities. Prior to this role, Luis worked as a Technical Research Officer at the Biotechnology Research Institute and managed projects related to wastewater treatment at Biotecnología Ambiental, SA de CV. Additionally, Luis contributed to research on wastewater treatment at Instituto de Ingenieria UNAM. Luis holds a PhD in Bioresources Engineering from McGill University, obtained between 2002 and 2008.
