Jody Slaughter has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Currently, they are the Director of Community Partnerships & Grants at Lamar University since August 2021. Prior to this, Jody served as the Chief Innovation Officer at Beaumont ISD starting from August 2018. They also held the position of Director of Federal Programs and Grants at Beaumont ISD from July 2016. In their earlier career, Jody worked at Little Cypress Mauriceville CISD, where they held various positions such as Director of State and Federal Programs, State and Federal Programs Coordinator, Reading Specialist, and Teacher. They started at Little Cypress Mauriceville CISD in July 2001 and remained with the organization until their move to Beaumont ISD in 2016. Lastly, Jody worked at Bob Hope School as the Chief of Schools from July 2020 to July 2021.

Jody Slaughter attended Lamar University from 1981 to 1985, where they earned a degree in Accounting. At an unknown time, they also pursued a Masters degree in Administration at Sam Houston State University.
