Matthew Walker MRICS has a comprehensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Matthew started their career as a Trainee Draughtsman in the Nottingham lace trade at Guy Birkin Ltd. Matthew then transitioned to become a Pattern Changer/Refurbishment/Commissioning Mechanic, where they specialized in commissioning new machinery and refurbishing existing plant.

After their time in the textile industry, Matthew moved into the facilities management field. Matthew joined Gleeds as a Facilities Manager and later became the Group Facilities Manager and FM Consultant. Matthew then joined Cushman & Wakefield, where they held various positions including Roving Facilities Manager, Senior Facilities Manager, Regional Facilities Manager, Associate Director - UK Regions Lead, and Partner & Head of UK Regions.

Matthew's career continued to progress as they joined Shell as the Head of Property, Workplace & HSSE and later as a Senior Real Estate Strategy Partner in the Integrated Gas and Renewables Division. Currently, Matthew is working at Lambert Smith Hampton as the Director & National Head of Facilities Management UK, a position they have held since 2021 before being promoted to Senior Director & National Head of Facilities Management UK in 2023.

Matthew Walker MRICS completed their education in a chronological manner. Matthew first attended George Spencer Academy from 1989 to 1994, where they obtained GCSE's. Following that, they pursued Textile Sciences and Engineering at De Montfort University from 1995 to 1997. Matthew then went back to Sheffield Hallam University, where they obtained an Undergraduate Certificate in Facilities Management from 2007 to 2008. Finally, they completed their education at Sheffield Hallam University with a BA (Hons) degree in Facilities Management from 2008 to 2011.

In addition to their education, Matthew Walker MRICS has obtained certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Matthew became a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in August 2012. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified Member certification from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management in November 2016.
