Darren Joyce is a Cloud Platform Architect at Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency since October 2021, while simultaneously serving as an Ambulance Officer at St John New Zealand since December 2017. With a strong focus on emergency medical services, Darren also functions as a First Aid Instructor with Land Search and Rescue New Zealand. Previous roles include Cloud DevOps Engineer at FMG, where Darren promoted Azure and DevOps methodologies, and Swiftwater & Flood Instructor with Rescue 3 New Zealand, specializing in flood safety and swiftwater rescue. Earlier experience includes significant technical roles, such as Technical Lead at Massey University, Senior Technical Consultant at Computercare NZ Limited, and Senior Systems Engineer at Edtech. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Health in Paramedicine at Auckland University of Technology, Darren also holds a Diploma in Ambulatory Practice from St John New Zealand.

Land Search and Rescue New Zealand
New Zealand Land Search and Rescue Incorporated (LandSAR) was established as an incorporated society in 1994. Our volunteers operate in suburban, urban, wilderness and rural areas including regional and forest parks, shorelines and caves. Our unpaid professionals offer their specialist search and rescue skills free to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the New Zealand Police and the Rescue Coordination Centre.
