Marianna Gardarsdottir has extensive work experience in the field of radiology, with a focus on leadership roles. Marianna started their career in 2001 as a Radiologist at Landspitali University Hospital. Marianna also worked as a Radiologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital from 2004 to 2007 and again in 2012. At Landspitali University Hospital, they held various positions including Acting Chief of Radiology, Director of Diagnostics, Laboratories, and Blood bank, Chief of Cardiac Imaging, and Program Director of the Residency program. Marianna has also been involved in academia, serving as an Adjunct Professor of Radiology at the University of Iceland since 2013 and an Assistant Clinical Professor since 2011. In addition, Marianna has held leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Nordic Society of Radiology, European Society of Radiology, and Radiological Society of Iceland. Marianna has been President of the Radiological Society of Iceland and served as President and General Secretary of the Nordic Society of Radiology. Marianna has also contributed to the European Society of Radiology as a Section Coordinator and Co-Chairman for various subcommittees. Marianna Gardarsdottir completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine at Háskóli Íslands from 1992 to 1999. Marianna further pursued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medicine, specializing in their field of study, from 2013 to 2023.
