Darich Runyan

Chief Information Security Officer at Langley Federal Credit Union

Darich Runyan has extensive experience in the field of information security. Darich currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Information Security at Langley Federal Credit Union since October 2019. Before that, they served as the IT Director at T. Parker Host from March 2019 to September 2019. From 2012 to 2019, they worked at the Virginia Port Authority as the Senior Director of Cyber Security. During their tenure, they were responsible for overseeing the security of all technology and digital assets at the Port of Virginia and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Darich also developed cybersecurity policies and led the development of the Cyber Oversight Committee. Prior to that, they held the position of Principal Network Security Engineer and Director at Zel Technologies from September 2000 to July 2013. In this role, they oversaw various cybersecurity deployments and managed secure system design and compliance audits. Darich also managed the cyber security research program for several US military branch commands. Before that, they owned Omni Infosec Ltd, where they provided contract technology and cyber security consulting services to large enterprises and government agencies. Darich also presented at technology symposiums. Darich started their career at Newport News Shipbuilding, where they served as an Information Security Engineer and Programmer. In this role, they were responsible for securing computer systems and networks and played a significant role in designing secure networks and managing various security systems.

Darich Runyan obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Science from James Madison University in 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Fine and Studio Arts from Christopher Newport University in 1995. In addition to their formal education, Darich also holds a certification in Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) from GIAC Certifications, although the specific date of obtaining this certification is unknown.
