Ali Hancock's work experience has been primarily in the criminal justice sector. Ali started their career in 1991 as a Probation Officer with the Department of Corrective Services in Western Australia, where they also worked as a mediator in restorative justice. In 2006, they joined Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Probation Trust, initially in a managerial role for substance misuse. Ali later took on various middle and senior management roles within the organization, focusing on performance improvement and offender management. In 2013, they became Director of Operations, overseeing the delivery of the NOMS Contract for two separate Probation Trusts. From 2014 to 2016, they served as the Director of Operations and Reducing Re-offending for BeNCH Community Rehabilitation Company. Ali then joined BeNCH CRC (Sodexo Justice Services) as a Director, a position they held until 2019. Ali Hancock's most recent position is as the Head of Communications for Langley House Trust, a role they have held since June 2020.

Ali Hancock completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons 2:1) in English Literature from the University of Exeter in 1989. Ali further pursued their education at the same university and received a Master of Arts (MA) degree in English Literature in 1990. In 2020, Ali obtained a UK Mediation Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner's Certificate from AIM Qualifications.
