Partner & Head of the Private Law division at Langleys

Mark has specialised exclusively in family law since he qualified in 1995. Upon qualification he worked in the East Riding and since 2008 has been in York. He heads the Private Law Division at Langleys and now practices exclusively in the area of divorce and finance plus more complex private law children cases. He is a qualified Family Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer who has been fortunate to be included in both the Legal 500 and in band 1 of Chambers and Partners Expert Legal Guides for many years. For a long term he was the only recommended Family Law Solicitor in the whole of York.

He is renowned for his Family Law expertise and has regularly lectured and delivered presentations on matters of family law in the past. He has been a frequent commentator for newspapers and has also provided comment on family law issues for the BBC and other organisations.

Mark’s expertise revolves around complex and high value cases. He has acted for business owners, land owners and high profile individuals throughout his career. In particular he has expertise in cases with farming assets, complex business structures and he also many cases ongoing at any time which are offshore with previous clients in South America, the Far East, Europe, the USA and China.

Mark is a member of Resolution and is a former Regional Chair. He worked for a long time with Resolution at a national level and was also involved in the implementation of a pilot scheme regarding safeguarding children in private law children proceedings which is now nationally approved.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys many sporting hobbies which are now more infrequent as a consequence of having 3 children.
