Erin O'Leary has a diverse work experience. Erin began their career in 2013 as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Environmental Sciences at Emory University, where they collected mosquito larvae, pupae, and adults and identified them to species using morphologically distinct traits. In 2014, O'Leary interned at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program, where they assisted with surveillance of foodborne illness and outbreak investigation. That same year, they were also a Graduate Research Assistant in the Entomology Branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria, where they contributed to studies of insecticide resistance and insecticide longevity and effectiveness. In 2015, O'Leary became a Health Scientist with the CDC Foundation and the Statistics Team with the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion's Surveillance Branch, where they utilized knowledge of statistical methods and SAS programming to analyze CDC's Antibiotic Use summary dataset. Finally, in 2019, O'Leary joined the Lantana Consulting Group as an Analytics and Visualization Manager and Data Scientist, where they analyzed inpatient antibiotic use data and antibiotic stewardship data reported to the National Healthcare Safety Network.

Erin O'Leary holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Emory University- Rollins School of Public Health, where they studied Epidemiology from 2013 to 2015. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) from UC Santa Barbara, where they studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from FEMA, including IS-200b: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, IS-800b: National Response Framework, an Introduction, IS-100b: Introduction to Incident Command System, and IS-700a: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction.
