Mr. Van Bylen studied business administration at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He graduated with a Master in Business Economics and a Master in Business Administration. In addition, Mr. Van Bylen completed various management programs (including at Harvard Business School).
Mr. Van Bylen started his career at Henkel in 1984 as Marketing and Sales Manager Benelux. After successfully devoting himself to expanding the business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the USA in various management positions, Mr. Van Bylen became a member of the Management Board of Henkel in 2005 and was responsible for the Beauty Care business unit as Executive Vice President for the following ten years. In May In 2016, Mr. Van Bylen was appointed CEO of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA. He held this office until his retirement in December 2019. From September 2018 to March 2020, Mr. Van Bylen was President of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI).
