Shivani Garg

Shivani Garg is an accomplished professional in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, currently serving as Project Manager and Senior Scientist at LanzaTech since November 2018. With expertise in strain and pathway engineering, gas fermentation, and project management, Shivani has significantly contributed to the engineering of anaerobic acetogens for fuels and chemical production. Prior roles include Scientist II at Intrexon Corporation, where Shivani engineered methanotrophs for methane conversion, and Postdoctoral Research Associate positions at Rice University and Iowa State University, focusing on bioconversion pathways and fatty acid synthesis. As Founder and President of OmegaChea Biorenewables, Shivani established a biotech startup aimed at bio-based lubricant production and secured substantial seed funding. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology from Panjab University.
