Nicole Martel is an accomplished leader in stakeholder relations and communications, currently serving as Vice President at the Local Authorities Pension Plan since April 2023. Previously, Martel held the position of Chief Policy & Advocacy Officer at Alberta Municipalities from January 2018 to April 2023, where responsibilities included managing policy participation and advocacy networks for the organization. Experience also includes a role as Senior Director for Small Business & Entrepreneurship at the Government of Alberta, focusing on economic development initiatives, and serving as Executive Director of the Urban Development Institute of Alberta, representing over 400 companies in land development. Early career experience includes managing government relations for EPCOR, where Martel engaged with various government levels to support corporate initiatives. Martel holds both a BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Alberta, specializing in Canadian politics, gender, and advocacy.
