Dr Chen Mao Davies

Dr Chen Mao Davies has a diverse work experience in various industries. Dr Chen started their career as a PhD Researcher at Brunel University, where they focused on transferring 2D sketches into 3D virtual human body models and sketch-based 3D character animation. Dr Chen then worked as a Software Developer at Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd, where they worked on the graphics components of their building performance modeling software. At ArtVPS Ltd, they served as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the development of the Shaderlight ray tracing and global illumination technology. Dr Chen then joined Cardiff University as a Research Fellow, conducting research on 3D Geometric Model Processing and Editing. Dr Chen Mao Davies also worked at Framestore as an R&D Software Engineer, where they developed and maintained proprietary tools for lighting, rendering, and effects for various film productions. Currently, they are the Founder and CEO of Anya, an award-winning FemTech start-up that focuses on using smart technology to support women during their breastfeeding and early motherhood journey. Dr Chen has also been awarded an NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellowship, which allows their to engage with policymakers and influencers in digitally enabled care.

Dr. Chen Mao Davies has an extensive education history. In 1998, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical Engineering and Machinery from the Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology. Dr Chen then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Computing at the University of Dundee from 2002 to 2003.

Continuing their education, Dr. Davies completed their Ph.D. in Sketch-based Human Modelling and Animation from Brunel University London between 2003 and 2006. Subsequently, they obtained additional certifications, including becoming a Professional Member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) in 2007.

In 2022, Dr. Chen Mao Davies attended the Tuck Executive Education program at Dartmouth, where they studied "Building a Successful Diverse Business." Additionally, they also hold certifications such as the CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing and is a Registered PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner accredited by APM Group.
