Maria Alvarez Gomez

Maria Alvarez Gomez is an experienced professional specializing in violence against women and girls (VAWG) advocacy and policy development. Currently serving as Interim Policy and Communications Coordinator at the Latin American Women's Rights Service, Maria has held various roles within the organization including Research and Engagement Policy Officer and VAWG Programme Assistant, where responsibilities involved program support, legal coordination, and user satisfaction assessments. Previous experience includes a Research and Development Intern position at the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP UNESCO) and teaching roles at the International School of Dakar and the British Senegalese Institute. Maria holds a Master's degree in International Education and Development from the University of Sussex and a Bachelor's degree in Combined Modern Languages from the University of Portsmouth.
