Makoto Sakata has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Starting in 2000, they worked as an Independent Web Designer and Developer, where they founded their own startup and gained experience in designing and coding corporate websites. In 2002, they joined KSF co.,ltd as a Software Engineer, working on various Java projects. Makoto utilized frameworks such as Jakarta Turbin and Torque, as well as Java CC.
In 2006, Makoto joined Recruit Media Communications as a Software Engineer, where they developed and maintained magazine publishing systems and consumer web applications using Ruby on Rails. Makoto also managed external developers and defined system specifications.
In 2009, Makoto joined Gilt Groupe Japan as a Software Engineer, where they played a key role in developing Japan-specific shopping features and contributing to the company's growth. Makoto later became a Senior Software Engineer and then a Tech Lead Web Engineering, where they successfully launched a mobile site and led the conversion of Gilt's frontend layer to a javascript-based single page app.
In 2013, Makoto joined KAIZEN Platform Inc. as a Tech Lead / Senior Software Engineer, where they built and maintained a crowdsourcing A/B testing service using Ruby on Rails and Node.js. Makoto was involved in building core components such as billing/payment and permission management.
In 2016, Makoto joined Facebook as a Senior Partner Engineer, working on integrations with music label partners and leading cross-functional projects. Makoto also served as a mentor to their peers. Makoto later transitioned to a Senior Partner Engineer role focused on media.
In 2021, Makoto joined Meta as a Senior Software Engineer, Developer Platform, and then transitioned to the role of Senior Partner Engineer, Music in 2022. Finally, in 2022, Makoto joined Lattice as a Senior Software Engineer.
Makoto Sakata pursued their undergraduate studies at Gakushuin University from 1996 to 2000. During this period, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics.
