Sergejs Bērics

Sergejs Bērics has a diverse work experience. Sergejs began their career with an internship at DnB NORD Bank in 2008. In 2010, they started working as a freelance financial/investment consultant, providing private financial advisory services including portfolio reorganization and analysis of investments. During this time, they also contributed to various projects such as timber investment, value calculation for merger and acquisition transactions, and risk identification system development.

In 2016, Bērics joined Deloitte Latvia as a Senior Associate, where they led and controlled projects, managed clients, and provided economic, risk, and financial advisory services. Sergejs also conducted provision reviews and offered IFRS9 advisory services. Subsequently, in 2018, they joined the Financial and Capital Market Commission as a Senior Supervision Expert, primarily focusing on audit and oversight responsibilities. In 2020, they were promoted as the Chief Auditor, a role they continued until 2023.

Bērics currently holds the position of Chief Auditor at Latvijas Banka, which they started in 2023. Overall, their work experience spans various roles in auditing, supervision, financial consultancy, and project management.

Sergejs Bērics has a well-rounded education history. Sergejs started their undergraduate studies in 2006 at Nürtingen-Geislingen University (HfWU), where they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Internationales Finanzmanagement in 2010. During that time, they also had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW for one year, focusing on Finance, Economics, Management, and Context studies.

In 2007, Sergejs further expanded their knowledge by attending Harvard University for a certificate program in Microeconomics of Competitiveness. This experience allowed him to delve deeper into the subject and gain valuable insights.

With a strong foundation in finance and a desire to specialize further, Sergejs pursued a Master of Science degree in Banking and Finance at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Sergejs successfully completed this program in 2012, solidifying their expertise in the field.
