Jordan Preston

Founder at LavaMap

Jordan is a modern-day mad scientist with a knack for brewing up inventions that improve the world around him. His evergreen desire to push conventional boundaries has propelled his dedication to creating innovative platforms with big impact.

Inspiration ignited in Jordan while working for Massey Knakal, New York City’s largest commercial brokerage firm of its time. He found himself frustrated by inaccurate data in the real estate industry and difficulty in searching for building information. Ever the solution-based entrepreneur, Jordan was determined to create a free website that would be the most user-friendly and precise database of every building in NYC. Today, that idea has evolved into the LavaMap listing platform.

In 2013, Jordan was awarded the Excellence in Preservation award by the Preservation League of New York State, along with the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award, the conservancy’s highest honor, for the restoration of Keramos Hall in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Jordan also designed and built a passive house in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Jordan studied Architecture at Pratt University and has worked for Onboard Informatics, the nation's largest real estate data provider, and as the Director of Professional Services at PropertyShark.com.
