Claire Marchant is an experienced legal professional with a focus on labour and employment law, including expertise in workplace privacy, occupational health and safety, and equity practices. Currently serving as the Director of Policy & Practice and Director of Practice Advice & Equity Ombudsperson at the Law Society of British Columbia since August 2017, Claire has previously worked as Legal Counsel at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Employment Law Counsel at Avigilon. Claire's earlier experience includes roles as Associate Lawyer at Harris & Company LLP and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, as well as judicial clerkship at the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench. Claire holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University.
