Curt Rettig is a highly experienced Principal Laser Scientist currently working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since September 2022, focusing on the modeling and development of high-energy lasers, including NIF and high average power laser systems. Previously, Curt held the position of Principal Scientist at Spectra-Physics from April 2008 to December 2022, leading the development and management of advanced laser products. Prior experience includes roles as Principal Scientist at Innovative Scientific Solutions Inc, where Curt developed an ultra-fast x-ray source, and Sr Scientist at Cymer, focusing on EUV lithography light sources. An early career included investigations of plasma turbulence as an Associate Research Scientist at UCLA from 1993 to 2000. Curt Rettig earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on plasma physics and lasers from UCLA and holds a Master’s degree in the same field, also from UCLA, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
