Samuel Varghese

Samuel Varghese is a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, providing operational and technical support within the Nuclear Criticality Safety Division while managing Global Security/NEST operations. Prior to this role, Samuel was the Principal Investigator for the ISSA Lite project during a scholarship at LLNL, focusing on fundamental physics using reactor fuel. Additional experience includes high energy density physics simulations as a graduate student intern, and computational assessments of reactor performance as an undergraduate researcher at UC Berkeley. Samuel has contributed to teaching and research projects, including a lab model for neutron behavior and simulations of reactor core characteristics. Academic achievements include a Master of Engineering in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley.
