Sean Hickingbottom

Sean Hickingbottom is a highly experienced Staff Scientist and Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, specializing in explosives research and experimental design since August 2021. Responsibilities include coordinating multidisciplinary teams to conduct advanced experiments in detonation science and shock physics, utilizing various diagnostic techniques. Prior roles include Laboratory Analyst at Intel Corporation, where analytical research and development in chemical and materials engineering were supported, as well as student researcher positions at Brigham Young University - Idaho, focusing on rocket propulsion, analytical chemistry, and material science. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Brigham Young University - Idaho and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Davis. Additional qualifications include certification in Explosive Safety Applications for National Laboratories and training as an Emergency Medical Technician.
