Dr. Omer Razzaq is a highly qualified ophthalmologist currently serving as a Senior Medical Officer at LRBT, the largest provider of eye care in Pakistan since August 2022. Prior to this role, Dr. Razzaq completed an ophthalmology residency at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore from August 2018 to August 2022 and worked as a Medical Doctor with the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department from May 2016 to July 2018. Dr. Razzaq began the medical career as a House Officer at Jinnah Hospital in 2015, completing a clinical internship across four specialties. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Ophthalmology Residency from the University of Health Sciences (2018-2022) and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore (2009-2015). Early education was completed at Punjab College for Boys Sialkot and City Public High School Sialkot.

The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) is a charity organization which is devoted to the prevention of curable blindness and impaired vision in people who live around the poverty line. Although 80% of blindness is curable, most of it due to cataract, lack of facilities and the inability to afford the treatment/surgery expands the pool of blindness. Over the last 32 years we have been instrumental in reducing the prevalence of blindness from 1.8 % to 0.9 % of the population. However there are still 1.8 million blind people in the country and another 17.9 million have impaired vision, so there is a huge amount to do. We are now operating 19 Hospitals and 52 Community Eye Care Centres & 4 Outreach Clinics. During the year ending June’17 we treated over 2.9 million poor patients in OPD and performed over 267,000 major & minor surgeries free. LRBT is the major provider of eye care in the country treating 36% of all eye patients, performing 27.4% of eye surgeries and 32% of all Pediatric eye surgeries. We crossed the 38th Millionth patient treated milestone in February 2018 and will be reaching the 39th Millionth patient milestone by end June 2018. LRBT impacts & improves the life of more patients than any NPO in the country.
