John Cook has had a diverse work experience in the legal and risk management field. John started their career as a Law Clerk at the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in May 2000, and later worked as a Law Clerk at the Louisiana State Senate from August 2000 to July 2001. In 2011, they became a Senior Risk Manager at Tulane Medical Center, where they worked until January 2014. In January 2014, they joined LCMC Health as a Senior Attorney, and later transitioned to the role of Assistant Vice President Risk Management in February 2018. In this role, they were responsible for managing and analyzing risk management data, procuring insurance coverage, managing claims, developing an enterprise risk management program, and ensuring compliance with risk management standards.

John Cook attended Tulane University from 1994 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Following that, they enrolled at LSU Law school from 1998 to 2001, earning a Juris Doctor degree in Law. In July 2013, they obtained a certification in CPHRM.
