Dr. Rae Lynn Helman has extensive work experience in the field of education, specializing in special education. Dr. Rae Lynn has held various positions throughout their career. Dr. Rae Lynn began their career as a Special Education Teacher at Wayne Central Schools from 1995 to 1998. Dr. Rae Lynn then joined Brockport Central School District as a Special Education Teacher from 1999 to 2008. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Brockport from 2008 to 2022. In 2008, they joined Genesee Valley Educational Partnership as a Special Education School Improvement Specialist until 2015. Dr. Rae Lynn then served as the Director of Pupil Personnel at Letchworth Central School from 2015 to 2022. Following that, they worked as the Director of Special Education at Clarence Central Schools from 2022 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Special Education at Le Roy Central School District, starting in 2023.

Dr. Rae Lynn Helman began their education at the State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo in 1992 and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Reading/Special Education in 1997. In 1993, they also obtained certifications in K-12 Special Education and N-12 Reading from the New York State Education Department.

In 2002, Dr. Helman pursued further education at SUNY Brockport, where they completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2004. In the same year, they obtained a School District Administrator certification from the New York State Education Department.

Their educational journey continued at the University at Buffalo, where Dr. Helman enrolled in a Doctor of Education (EdD) program specializing in Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning/Special Education Leadership in 2014. They are expected to complete their EdD degree in 2023.
