First published on 18 March 1998, it is the result of the merger of the newspapers Journal de Genève, Gazette de Lausanne and Le Nouveau Quotidien. As of 2010, it had 130 correspondents, including in Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, Sion and Zurich.
