Leadership Memphis
Dr. Bobby White serves as the President and CEO of Leadership Memphis since October 2024 and as the Memphis Shelby County Lead for Groundswell Network since May 2024, focusing on creating a robust alternative school ecosystem for underserved children in Tennessee. As the Founder and CEO of Frayser Community Schools, Dr. White has established a neighborhood charter school network in Memphis, operating three schools. Prior experience includes serving as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant at Tracey A Benson Consulting and as a Senior Fellow at the Tennessee Charter School Center. Dr. White was previously the Principal of Memphis-Shelby County Schools from July 2009 to June 2012. Dr. White holds a Doctor of Education in Urban Education and Leadership from The University of Memphis and has completed various leadership programs, including The Broad Academy of Superintendents.

Leadership Memphis prepares and mobilizes leaders to work together for the good of the whole community. Leadership Memphis develops community change agents, connects them with others who have a passion to serve, and empowers them with information and opportunities to make a difference. Leadership Memphis is the premier community leadership organization in the city. Founded in 1979, the organization has graduated more than 3,900 community leaders and continues to be a ground-breaking innovator with new programs and action initiatives that drive civic engagement and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for all Memphians. The organization offers Executive and FastTrack Programs to develop community leaders from seasoned professionals and emerging talents. Memphis hosts four signature events annually designed to create stronger connections between our alumni, sponsors, community partners, and other business and community leaders in support of our vision, mission, and goals. Our signature events are our Leadership Awards Luncheon, Multicultural Breakfast, and Alumni Holiday Party. Our action initiative is Volunteer Memphis, a program that builds capacity for effective volunteering and connecting people with opportunities to serve throughout Memphis and Shelby County. Volunteer Memphis is an affiliate of the HandsOn Network.
