Caen Thomason-Redus has a diverse work experience in the music and arts industry. They currently hold the position of Vice President, Inclusion and Learning at the League of American Orchestras since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as the Community Catalyst/Senior Director of Community & Learning from April 2017 to May 2022, and as the Community Catalyst/Director of Community & Learning from April 2015 to April 2017.
Caen also served as a Board Member at Early Music Now from July 2006 to June 2019. They held the position of Assistant to the Executive and Artistic Director at Early Music Now in 2012. In addition, Caen worked as the 2nd Flute at the Central City Opera from June 2012 to May 2015.

Caen Thomason-Redus has served as a Flute Mentor at the Hot Springs Music Festival from 2010 to 2015, offering advanced undergraduate through doctoral level coaching and playing opportunities.
They have also worked as a Flute Instructor at The Flint Institute of Music from September 2013 to September 2014, and as a Civic Youth Ensembles Flute Coach at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra until June 2014.
Caen has experience in teaching music as well, having worked as a Music Instructor at MATC from September 2011 to December 2012, and as an Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2005 to 2012.
Caen Thomason-Redus has a diverse education history in the field of music. They started their educational journey at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Preparatory Division from 1983 to 1992, where they focused on music studies during their high school years. Following that, they attended Lowell High School from 1988 to 1992, although no specific field of study is mentioned. Later on, they pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in flute at the University of Redlands from 1992 to 1996. In 1994, they briefly studied music at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
