Dr. Amy Sharp, NBCT has extensive work experience in education. Starting in 2012, they worked as a Lead Teacher, K-4 Department Chair, and Writing Instructional Coach in Conroe Independent School District. In 2016, they served as a Campus Literacy Coach and District Curriculum Writer in Spring ISD. Dr. Amy then joined Austin Independent School District as a Campus Instructional Coach, where they coached, trained, and supported teachers while also assisting the administrative team. From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Sharp worked for the NEA, first as an NEA EDcommunities NBCT Candidate Facilitator and later as an Early Career Educator Virtual Coach. Dr. Amy virtually coached and connected K-12 educators through the NEA's edCommunities platform. In 2018, they became a Curriculum Specialist: Humanities Educational Partner in the Eanes-Westlake Innovative School District, where they led planning and development of K-12 professional learning and served on various committees. From 2018 to 2020, they also worked at the Texas Education Agency as an Instructional Materials Quality Evaluation (IMQE) Team Manager, leading a team in evaluating and reviewing instructional materials. Their most recent experience is as a School Administrator: Assistant Principal in Lake Travis ISD from 2020 to 2022, and they currently work as a School Administrator: Principal in Leander ISD, where they lead and supervises teams of teachers and support staff, develops curriculum and instructional strategies, collaborates with stakeholders, and oversees school-wide initiatives.
Dr. Amy Sharp, NBCT has a strong education background. Dr. Amy obtained their Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree in Elementary/Reading from Baylor University in 2004. In 2010, they earned their Masters of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction/Urban Education from the University of Maryland. Dr. Sharp furthered their education by completing the Principal Certification Program in Educational Leadership and Administration at the University of North Texas in 2016.
Recently, Dr. Sharp completed their Doctor of Education - EdD in K-12 Educational Leadership from Baylor University in 2021. Dr. Amy also holds various certifications, including being a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood/Literacy: Reading-Language Arts. Additionally, they have acquired Texas Educator Certifications for Superintendent and Principal EC-12, and Maryland Teaching Certification for Elementary Education (1-6) and Middle School (6-8). Dr. Amy is well-rounded in their qualifications and continues to pursue professional development in the field of education.
