Burcu Akinci

Burcu Akinci began their career in 2009 at Carnegie Mellon University as the Paul Christiano Professor and Associate Dean for Research. In 2016, they co-founded and became the CIO of LeanFM Technologies. In 2022, they will become the Head of Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.

Burcu Akinci received their Bachelor of Science degree from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi / Middle East Technical University between 1987 and 1991. Burcu then went on to obtain their Master of Business Administration - MBA from Bilkent University between 1991 and 1993. Following this, they obtained their MS and Engineering from Stanford University between 1994 and 1996. Finally, they earned their PhD from Stanford University between 1997 and 2000.
