Kurt Achtenhagen has a diverse work background with experience in finance and operations. Kurt started their career in 1994 at Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Accountant for four years. Kurt then worked at Brock & Company CPA's, PC as a Supervisor Accountant from 1999 to 2000. Kurt later joined Qwest Communications as a Financial Restatement Consultant from 2002 to 2003. In 2003, they became the Director of Finance & Operations at The Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics, where they continue to work. Additionally, they served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for both the Eastern Sun Academy from 2008 to 2011 and the Sugar Loaf Fire Protection District from 2004 to 2006.

Kurt Achtenhagen has a diverse education history, with a focus on business and sustainability. In 1989, they enrolled in UC Santa Barbara and completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics with an Accounting Emphasis in 1993.
