Wildlife Veterinarian And Assistant Professor at Lees-McRae College

Sam Young, DVM, is an experienced wildlife veterinarian and academic, currently serving as a Wildlife Veterinarian and Assistant Professor at Lees-McRae College since May 2023. With a notable career, Sam has held the position of VP of Veterinary Health at Greensboro Science Center since January 2015 and worked as a contract veterinarian at Discovery Place, Inc., and Sea Life Aquarium Charlotte-Concord. Additionally, Sam operated Uncommon Creatures Mobile Veterinary Services, providing at-home and on-farm care for exotic animals in North Carolina. Sam's foundational experience includes roles as a volunteer veterinary assistant and veterinary assistant in various organizations. Education includes a Doctor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University and an internship in Wildlife Medicine at Tufts University.
