John Norquay

Policy Counsel, Refugee And Immigration Law Services at Legal Aid Ontario

John Norquay has a significant amount of experience in immigration and refugee law. John currently works as an Adjunct Instructor at Queen's University in the Faculty of Law's Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law program. Prior to this, they were a Policy Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario, specializing in refugee and immigration law services. John also held roles as a Staff Lawyer at Legal Aid Ontario, working in the Refugee Panel Services and Refugee Law Office departments. Before joining Legal Aid Ontario, Norquay worked as a Staff Immigration Lawyer at the HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario (HALCO). Additionally, they gained experience as an Associate Refugee and Immigration Lawyer at Vandervennen Lehrer and as a Refugee and Immigration Lawyer at their own firm, John Norquay, Barrister and Solicitor. Norquay began their legal career as an Articling Student at Parkdale Community Legal Services.

John Norquay attended McMaster University from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Modern Languages and Linguistics. Later, they enrolled at the University of Toronto from 2002 to 2005 and successfully completed their Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
