Richard Kirkham has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Richard began their career as a Teacher's Assistant at Wilfred Laurier University in 2008. From 2010 to 2012, they worked as an Information Communications Assistant at the Caribbean Farmers' Network and as a Democratic Governance Intern at the Centre for Democracy and Development. In 2011, they also served as a Collections Administrator at Caterpillar Financial. Richard then transitioned into the legal field, starting as a Student Caseworker at Community Legal Aid from 2011 to 2012. Richard continued to gain legal experience as a Student Litigator at Community Legal Aid from 2012 to 2013 and later as a Student Caseworker at Legal Assistance of Windsor from 2013 to 2013. Richard then joined the University of Windsor as a Transnational Law and Justice Network Research Fellow from January to April 2014. Richard subsequently joined Legal Aid Ontario, where they worked as an Articling Student from August 2014 to June 2015 and as a Staff Lawyer in Family Law from July 2015 to April 2021. Richard currently holds the position of Staff Lawyer in Family Law at Legal Aid Ontario since May 2021.
Richard Kirkham obtained a Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from McMaster University in the years 2003 to 2007. Richard then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Political Science at Wilfrid Laurier University from 2008 to 2009. Following this, they attended St. Francis Xavier University in 2010, where they earned a Certificate in Development Leadership. Finally, Richard completed their education at the University of Windsor from 2011 to 2014, receiving a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree, specializing in Law.
