Jim Sandman

President Emeritus at Legal Services Corporation

Jim Sandman serves as a Distinguished Lecturer and Senior Consultant to the Future of the Profession Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School since May 2020. From January 2011 to the present, Jim holds the position of President Emeritus at the Legal Services Corporation, having previously served as President. Jim's prior experience includes roles as General Counsel for the District of Columbia Public Schools from 2007 to 2011, and a long tenure at Arnold & Porter from 1977 to 2007, where Jim held positions as Managing Partner, Partner, and Associate. Jim began a legal career as a Law Clerk for Judge Max Rosenn from August 1976 to August 1977. Jim earned a J.D. with cum laude honors from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a B.A. in History with summa cum laude honors from Boston College.
