Alexander Horwitz serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Legal Services NYC, the largest civil legal services organization in the United States, since September 2022. Prior to this role, Horwitz was the Executive Director for New Yorkers United for Justice, leading a prominent coalition for criminal justice reform from September 2019 to September 2022. Earlier experience includes serving as Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Board of Directors at The Doe Fund, Inc., a major provider of reentry and supportive housing services in New York City, from May 2014 to September 2019. Between 2009 and 2014, Horwitz worked as a Nonprofit & Corporate Communications Consultant for various organizations. Additionally, Horwitz held the position of Director of Strategy and Content at The Mixx from 2005 to 2009. Academic qualifications include an AB in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from the University of Chicago, obtained between 1998 and 2001.
