Ashley Huffstetler Campbell

CEO at Legal Aid of North Carolina

Ashley Huffstetler Campbell is currently the CEO at LEGAL AID OF NORTH CAROLINA INC. Prior to this, they were with Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law from June 2016 to July 2022, where they were an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of Blanchard Community Law Clinic. In this role, Ashley led a team of lawyers, administrators and law students to provide legal services in the areas of criminal record expunction, driver's license restoration, debt remediation, landlord tenant and domestic violence representation.

During their time at the law clinic, they served more than 2000 clients and became a significant contributor in the access to justice arena. The clinic was also the recipient of significant grants to expand access to justice in eastern North Carolina and hosted five remote legal clinics in 2021 alone. Ashley is also passionate about issues related to the advancement of women in the profession and is working on several projects at the law school related to that purpose.

Ashley holds several leadership positions in the profession. Ashley was recently elected a Bar Councilor for the Tenth Judicial District Bar. Ashley also serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Legal Aid of North Carolina and will accede to the chair in 2023, becoming the first (former) Legal Aid attorney to become chairman of the board.

Ashley Huffstetler Campbell graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law with their JD. Ashley also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in American Studies with Honors. In addition, they have completed executive education coursework in Governing for Non Profit Excellence from Harvard Business School.
